Smudged lipstick, smeared kajal or a blotchy eyeliner are easy fixes but an incorrect foundation shade or application can lead to an uneven finish, highlight imperfections and make your face look extremely cakey.

Hence, the foundation is a key product in your makeup kit.Welcome to Beauty Guide with Myntra.

In today I’ll be showing you how to pick the right foundation for your skin type that meets your beauty needs! The first step to getting the right foundation is to know your skin type.

If you’re blessed with normal skin, then any foundation works for you but if you have dry, oily or combination skin then this guide is exactly what you need!

If you have a bit of shine on your face everyday may it be summer or winter, then you’re struggling with keeping your makeup intact while still maintaining the oil balance of your skin.

Liquid foundations are pretty universal so pick one that has ‘oil-free’, ‘mattifying’ or ‘oil control’ mentioned on it.But if you want to go for a natural matte look then opt for a powder foundation instead.

Today, we have Sakina here with us and she has an oily skin type.So we’re going to start by lightly dabbing these areas of her face that are oily, with a blotting paper. Now I’ll be using a small amount of primer to mattify her face.

If you’re using a liquid foundation then use a stippling brush to apply it and blend it in.This will help cover all the areas of your face easily without making you look cakey. If you’re using a powder foundation, then you can use a kabuki brushor a powder puff that comes with the pack, for application.

With these tips, you can easily mattify your face and achieve an even base to enhance your makeup application. Now, if you’re a dry skin girl, then you must choose a cream-based foundation that will deliver moisture into your skin.

These foundations are water-based with a small amount of oil in them.that are specially formulated for dry to normal skin types. So Simran here has very dry skin so I suggest she uses the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation. On application, they provide full coverage, moisturize the dry areas and wipe out any flakinessgiving you a dewy finish and a natural glow.If you’re one with combination skin, like Jennifer herei.e., you have an oily t-zone and normal to dry cheeks, then it’s best that you use a mousse foundation.

Mousse foundations are basically liquid foundations with air being whipped into them to make them light, fluffy and easy to apply.

I absolutely love this product for combination skin. It’s great to use a flat brush for application. It settles to a semi-matte look with a smooth finish. It’s comfortable to use and provides great coverage on application.

Since this foundation has a tendency to smoothen out the skin instead of going cakey,it works great for women with mature skin as well.

Choosing the right type of foundation for your skin type is just one piece of the puzzle to achieving the perfect base.

The next step is to choose the right shade of foundation for your skin tone.So let me know if you’d like to know more on this subject.
